Meski belum diputar secara komersial, film Serbuan Maut atau yang memiliki judul internasional The Raid sudah beberapa kali membuat kejutan. Setelah mendapat banyak apresiasi dari penonton dan kritikus film serta menerima penghargaan di Toronto Film Festival, kini Hollywood pun dikabarkan akan membuat ulang (remake) film tersebut.
Beyondhollywood.com (20/9) melansir bahwa saat ini rumah produksi Screen Gems sedang tahap negosiasi dengan pihak terkait untuk mendapatkan hak pembuatan ulang ‘Serbuan Maut’. Screen Gems sendiri adalah anak perusahaan Sony Pictures yang sebelumnya telah membeli hak edarnya.
Ketika diputar Toronto Film Festival 2011 pekan lalu, banyak penonton yang takjub melihat adegan action yang diperagakan Iko Uwais, Joe Taslim, dan Yayan Ruhian. Film karya sutradara Gareth Evans itu juga diberitakan menjadi salah satu film yang memimpin penjualan dari 31 film yang dipasarkan festival tersebut.
Mungkin Screen Gems tidak akan sulit untuk mendapatkan hak membuat ulang ‘Serbuan Maut’ karena hak distribusi film tersebut memang dibeli oleh Sony Pictures WorldWide Acquisition (SPWA).
Namun, Hollywood harus mencari sutradara yang tepat. Gareth Evans telah mengumumkan jika dirinya tak mau membuat ulang film tersebut. Namun demikian, Evans dikabarkan telah menyiapkan sekuel ‘Serbuan Maut’ yang akan rencananya mulai syuting pada Januari 2012.

Kisah film ‘Serbuan Maut’ (The Raid) mengambil setting lokasi di jantung komunitas kumuh Jakarta, tepatnya di sebuah gedung markas persembunyian kalangan gangster paling berbahaya di dunia. Sebuah pasukan elit mendapatkan tugas untuk menyerbu markas kriminal tersebut guna meringkus kepala penjahat pengedar narkoba.
